1 Somerset—NORTH. Commencing on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria on the 12th parallel of south latitude, and bounded thence due east by that parallel to the shore of the Pacific Ocean ; thence northerly by the shore of that Ocean ; thence south-westerly by the Endeavour Straits ; and thence southerly by the eastern shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria to the point of commencement,—to include all islands and shipping within 60 miles of the mainland. 2 Palmer—NORTH. Commencing on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria at the mouth of the Mitchell River, and bounded thence by that river upwards to its junction with the Palmer River ; thence easterly by the range forming the watershed between the Mitchell and the Palmer Rivers to the Main Range forming the watershed between the waters flowing into the Gulf of Carpentaria and the waters flowing into the Pacific Ocean ; thence northerly by that range to the 12th parallel of south latitude ; thence due west by that parallel to the eastern shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria ; and thence southerly by that shore to the point of commencement. 3 Cook—NORTH. Commencing on the sea-coast at Double Point in about latitude 17 degrees 40 minutes south, and bounded thence by a line west to the north-eastern watershed of the Herbert River ; thence by that watershed north-westerly to the coast range ; thence by that range northerly to the 12th parallel of south latitude ; thence east by that said parallel to the sea-coast ; and thence southerly by the sea-coast to the point of commencement,—to include all adjacent islands. This includes three Divisions under "The Divisional Boards Act," namely:— Cairns, Douglas, and Daintree. Howard St. George, Police Magistrate Cooktown.
4 Woothakata—NORTH. Commencing at the mouth of the Mitchell River, and bounded thence by that river upwards to its confluence with the Palmer River ; thence by the watershed separating the Palmer from the Mitchell River easterly to the Coast Range ; thence by that range southerly and by the western watershed of the Herbert River to the range forming the northern watershed of the Einasleigh River ; thence by that range westerly to a point north from the confluence of the Einasleigh and Etheridge Rivers ; thence by a line south to that confluence ; thence by the Einasleigh and Gilbert Rivers downwards to the Gulf of Carpentaria ; and thence by the coast thereof northerly to the point of commencement.
