DESCRIPTION of CENSUS DISTRICTS and of COLLECTORS' SUB-DISTRICTS—continued.
Sub-District No.4.—Commencing on the shore of Gulf of Carpentaria in the seventeenth parallel of south latitude ; thence by that parallel of latitude due east ; thence south by a line crossing the Gilbert River at the junction of the Einasleigh to southern watershed of Gilbert River ; thence by the eighteenth parallel of south latitude due west to Norman River, and by said river to south-west corner of Government Telegraph Reserve at Kimberley ; thence by the south and east boundary lines of said telegraph reserve to the shore of the Gulf ; and thence by the shore of the Gulf to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.5.—Commencing on the Flinders River in eighteenth parallel of south latitude, thence by said parallel of said latitude due east to the watershed of the Gilbert ; thence by that watershed to the one hundred and forty-third meridian of east longitude, and by said meridian due south to the Stawell River, and by that river downwards to its junction with the Flinders River ; thence in a north-westerly direction by that river to where it is intersected by the one hundred and forty-second meridian of east longitude ; thence by a line to the Cloncurry River where it is intersected by the one hundred and forty-first meridian of east longitude, and by the eastern bank of the Cloncurry River to the twentieth parallel of south latitude ; thence to Mount Fort Bowen ; and thence by the watershed separating the Flinders and Saxby Rivers to their junction ; and thence by the Flinders River to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.6.—Commencing on the watershed of The Gilbert River at the one hundred and forty-third meridian of east longitude, and by that watershed to the Great Dividing Range ; thence by eastern and southern watershed of Flinders River southerly and westerly, and by the twenty-first parallel of south latitude easterly to the one hundred and forty-first meridian of east longitude, and by said meridian due north to the Cloncurry River ; thence by a line east to the Flinders River to a point where it is intersected by the one hundred and forty-second meridian of east longitude ; thence by the Flinders River upwards to its junction with the Stawell River ; and by that river upwards to a point where it is intersected by the one hundred and forty-third meridian of east longitude ; and by said meridian north to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.7.—Commencing at the twenty-first degree of south latitude, one hundred and forty-first meridian of east longitude ; then due west to western boundary of the colony ; then by said boundary north to a point due west from Mount Fort Constantine ; thence by a line due east to Mount Fort Constantine ; thence by the Cloncurry River downwards to the one hundred and forty-first meridian of east longitude ; thence by said meridian south to point of commencement.
No. 7.—MARATHON DISTRICT.
Commencing in latitude twenty-one degrees south and longitude one hundred and thirty-eight degrees east, and bounded thence by a line bearing true east, and by the northern watershed of the Barcoo River easterly to the Great Dividing Range, and by that range southerly ; then by the watershed separating the Thompson River from the Alice River south-westerly to latitude twenty-four degrees south, and by that parallel of latitude true west, crossing the Thompson River, and by the one hundred and thirty-eighth degree of east longitude true north to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.1.—Commencing where the south boundary of the district is intersected by the Thompson River, and bounded thence by that river upwards to the junction of Landsborough and Tower Hill creeks ; thence by the watershed separating those creeks northerly to the north boundary of the district ; thence by that north boundary westerly to the west boundary of the district ; thence by that west boundary bearing south to the south boundary of the district ; thence by that south boundary to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.2.—Commencing where the south boundary of the district is intersected by the Thompson River, and bounded thence by that river upwards to the junction of Landsborough Creek with Tower Hill Creek ; thence by the watershed separating those creeks northerly to the north boundary of the district ; thence by part of the north, the east, and south-east boundaries of the district to the point of commencement.
No. 8.—BLACKALL DISTRICT.
Commencing on the Barcoo River, at the west boundary of Enniskillen. South Run, and bounded thence by the western boundaries of that run and Bexhill Run southerly to the southern watershed of the Barcoo River ; then by said watershed south-westerly to the twenty-sixth degree of south latitude, and by that parallel of latitude true west ; then by the one hundred and thirty-eighth degree of east longitude true north ; then by the twenty-fourth degree of south latitude true east to the water-shed separating the Thompson River from the Barcoo River and Alice River ; then by said watershed north-easterly ; then by the eastern watershed of the Barcoo River southerly, and by the watershed separating Dismal Creek from Birkhead Creek westerly ; then by a line bearing south, forming the boundary between Northampton and Spring Block Runs, to the Barcoo River, at the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.1.—Comprising the township and suburbs of Blackall, and all camps within a radius of two miles from the Police Court.
Sub-District No.2.—Commencing at the intersection of Barcoo River by east boundary of Census District ; thence by Barcoo River and Cooper's Creek downwards to south boundary of the district ; thence by that boundary easterly and north-easterly to east boundary of district ; thence by that east boundary northerly to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.3.—Commencing at the intersection of Barcoo River with east boundary of the Census District, and bounded thence by Barcoo River downwards to the one hundred and forty-fifth meridian of longitude, and by that meridian north to north boundary of the district ; thence by north-west, east, and south boundaries of district to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.4.—Commencing at the intersection of Barcoo River with the one hundred and forty-fifth meridian of longitude, and bounded thence by that meridian north to north boundary of Census District ; thence by that north boundary westerly to the western watershed of Thompson River ; thence by that watershed southerly to the Barcoo River ; and thence by that river upwards to the point of commencement.
