DESCRIPTION of CENSUS DISTRICTS and of COLLECTORS' SUB-DISTRICTS—continued.
Sub-District No.2.—Commencing at Cape Tribulation, thence northerly to mouth of Annan River near Mount Cook ; thence westerly by a line drawn to Great Dividing Range near heads of Palmer River ; thence southerly to Zigzag ; thence easterly by Zigzag to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.3.—Hope Islands.
Sub-District No.4.—Commencing at a crossing of Normanby River on old dray road, thence by the old dray road bearing generally westerly to the Main Dividing Range where the dray road crosses it about six miles west of Kennedy River ; thence southerly and easterly by Main Dividing Range to point where northern boundary of number two meets range ; thence easterly by that boundary to a point where boundary of number six subdivision meets said boundaries ; thence northerly to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.5.—From a point on sea-coast about six miles north of Cooktown ; thence by coast line to Cape Grenville ; thence westerly to Great Dividing Range ; thence southerly by range to dray road ; thence by dray-road easterly to Normanby River ; thence by a line drawn northerly about ten miles to Small Range ; thence by range to point on sea-coast at point of commencement.
Sub-District No.6.—From point on sea-coast about six miles north of Cooktown ; thence westerly by a small range to head of Endeavour River ; thence by a line drawn southerly to a point or northern boundary of number two subdivision about six miles from crossing of Normanby River ; thence by an easterly line and the Annan River to mouth of Annan River,—excluding the town or number seven subdivision.
Sub-District No.7.—Commencing at the most northern point of Grassy Hills and following the course of Endeavour River to a point sixty chains more or less from its junction with Alligator Creek ; thence southerly by a line due south fifty chains ; thence easterly by a line north one hundred degrees east one hundred and ten chains ; thence north-westerly, following the end of coast to point of commencement.
No. 4.—ETHERIDGE DISTRICT.
Commencing at the junction of the Etheridge River with the Gilbert River, and bounded thence by the watershed separating those rivers easterly to the Great Dividing Range ; then by that range northerly ; thence by the seventeenth parallel of south latitude true west ; then by a line bearing south to the junction of the Gilbert and Einasleigh Rivers ; and thence by the Gilbert River upwards to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.1.—From junction of Gilbert and Einasleigh by dividing watershed to head of Sandy Creek, thence by line east to junction of Talbot Creek and Delaney ; thence by south watershed of Talbot and Etheridge ; on east by watershed dividing Etheridge and Einasleigh to the junction ; thence by Einasleigh to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.2.—All Delaney watershed to junction of Talbot.
Sub-District No.3.—Watershed of Einasleigh to junction of Etheridge.
Sub-District No.4.—From junction of Einasleigh and Gilbert North by district boundary, thence by its east and south to Einasleigh watershed ; thence by that watershed to junction of Etheridge ; thence by Einesleigh River to point of commencement.
No. 5.—GILBERTON DISTRICT.
Commencing at the junction of the Gilbert River and Einasleigh River, and bounded thence by a line bearing south to the southern watershed of the Gilbert River ; then by that watershed south-easterly ; then by the range forming the watershed separating the Gilbert River from the Etheridge River northerly and westerly to their junction ; and by the Gilbert River downwards to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.1.—Commencing at a point on the Gilbert River and known as Wilson's Cattle Station, and bounded thence by a line bearing west by north to southern watershed ; then by that watershed south-easterly ; thence by range forming watershed separating Gilbert and Etheridge Rivers ; and westerly to point of commencement.
Sub-District No. 2.—Commencing at the junction of the Gilbert and Einasleigh Rivers, bounded thence by a line bearing south to southern watershed of the Gilbert ; then by that watershed to a point on the Gilbert River ; then by range forming watershed separating the Gilbert from the Etheridge northerly and westerly to their junctions ; and by Gilbert downwards to point of commencement.
No. 6.—BURKE DISTRICT.
Commencing on the shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria, in the seventeenth degree of south latitude, and bounded by that parallel of latitude true east ; then by a line bearing south, crossing the Gilbert River at the junction of the Einasleigh River to the southern watershed of the Gilbert River, and by that watershed south-easterly to the Great Dividing Range ; then by the eastern and southern watershed of the Flinders River southerly and westerly, and by the twenty-first degree of south latitude westerly to the one hundred and thirty-eighth meridian of east longitude, and by said meridian true north to the Gulf of Carpentaria ; and by the shore of the Gulf easterly to the point of commencement,—including all islands adjacent thereto.
Sub-District No.1.—Commencing on the shore of Gulf of Carpentaria at north-west extremity of the colony, thence by the western boundary of the colony south to a point due west of Mount Fort Constantine ; thence by that line due east to Mount Fort Constantine ; thence by eastern bank of the Cloncurry River downwards to twentieth degree of south latitude ; thence to Mount Fort Bowen on the eastern side of Flinders River ; thence by the watershed separating the waters of the Flinders and Saxby northerly to the junction of said rivers ; thence by the Flinders River downwards to the sea-coast, and by the sea-coast to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.2.—All the islands within sixty miles of that portion of the shore of Gulf of Carpentaria included between the north-west extremity of the colony and a point on eastern shore of Gulf in seventeenth parallel of south latitude,—including also the Government reserve at the mouth of the Norman River.
Sub-District No.3.—Commencing at the mouth of the Flinders River, thence along the shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria to mouth of Norman River ; thence following that river upwards to the eighteenth parallel of south latitude ; thence by a line west to the Flinders River ; thence by that river downwards to point of commencement.
