No. 1.—SOMERSET DISTRICT.
Commencing at Cape Grenville, and bounded thence by the twelfth degree of south latitude, bearing true west to the shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria ; then by the shore of that Gulf northerly to Cape York, and by the east coast southerly to the point of commencement,—including all islands adjacent thereto.
Sub-District No.1.—Town of Somerset and Albany Island.
Sub-District No.2.—All islands within sixty miles of the coast.
Sub-District No.3.—Remainder of District.
No. 2.—PALMER DISTRICT.
Commencing on the shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria, near the mouth of the Gilbert River, and bounded thence by the seventeenth parallel of south latitude true east to the Great Dividing Range ; then by that, range northerly to latitude twelve degrees ; then by a line bearing west to the shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria ; and by said shore southerly to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.1.—Commencing at dray-crossing, Sandy Creek, thence by east bank of Sandy Creek to mouth ; thence crossing Palmer River by line nearly north to Conglomerate ; thence by its watershed and down the southern falls of left hand branch to a point due north from Mount Bennett ; thence by a south line intersecting that mountain to the watershed of Dogley Creek ; thence by that watershed to the Oaky Creek dray road ; and thence by said dray road to the point of commencement.
Sub-District No.2.—Starting from mouth of Sandy Creek, thence due north five miles ; thence by line cutting Mount Emma to point north from Mount Daintree ; thence to Hann's Twenty Camp ; thence to Sixteen Camp ; thence to Mitchell River half-way between Fourteen and Fifteen Camps ; thence to Ten Camp ; thence to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.3.—Commencing at Mount Bennett ; thence by western watershed of Cannibal Creek to the lower granite range to a point about south-west from Sixty-one Camp ; thence to Sixty-one Camp ; thence to head of watershed of Little River ; thence by watershed dividing Palmer from left-hand branch waters to a point about five miles due north from Mount Bennett ; and thence to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.4.—From the dray-crossing at Sandy Creek by east bank of Sandy Creek to mouth of Stony Creek, then by north-east bank of Sandy Creek to mouth of Daintree ; thence by southern watershed of Sandy Creek to the west boundary of No. 3 ; thence by said boundary to Mount Bennett ; thence by southern watershed of Dogley Creek to starting point.
Sub-District No.5.—Commencing at mouth of Sandy Creek, thence to mouth of Little Mitchell ; thence by Mitchell River to mouth of Fine Gold Creek ; thence by south boundary of No. 4, and western boundaries of No. 4, to starting point.
Sub-District No.6.—From mouth of Fine Gold Creek by a line leading watershed of tributaries of right-hand branch to the northern end of Upper Granite Range, by said range to its southern end ; and thence by a south line to Mitchell River ; and thence by said river to starting point.
Sub-District No.7.—Commencing at the mouth of the Hodgkinson River, thence by a line due south to the head of the western watershed of said river ; thence by the said watershed to a point about south-west from Mount Lyttle ; thence to the Mitchell River, and by said river to starting point.
Sub-District No.8.—From mouth of Sandy Creek by a line to Mount Bennett, then due north five miles ; thence by a line west to point intersecting Cradle Creek ; thence to starting point.
Sub-District No.9.—Bounded on south by north boundary of No. 8, thence by watershed of Cradle Creek to Conglomerate ; thence by that watershed of left-hand branch to a point five miles north of Mount Bennett ; and thence to starting point.
Sub-District No.10.—From the mouth of Stony Creek to a point about six miles from Seventy-eight Camp, thence to Mount Daintree ; thence to a point westerly six miles from Mount Emma ; thence by watershed dividing Palmer from Kennedy waters to Cradle Creek ; and thence by a south fine to point of commencement.
Sub-District No.11.—Commencing at Mount Bennett, thence north five miles ; thence due east to heads of Lyttle River ; thence south to the Knnottys ; thence by the southern and western watersheds of the right-hand branch tributaries and intersecting the lower granite range at the heads of Cannibal Creek ; and by the western watershed of said creek to starting point.
Sub-District No.12.—From mouth of Sandy Creek and by east bend of said creek to mouth of Stony Creek, thence by a line taking in the southern watershed of Stony Creek to heads ; thence by western watershed of Sandy Creek tributaries to Mount Bennett ; and thence by south bank of Palmer River to starting point.
Sub-District No.13.—From mouth of Stony Creek to a point about six miles east from Seventy-eight Camp, thence to mouth of Fine Gold Creek ; thence by a line north-east to head of watershed ; thence by the Sandy Creek watershed to Stony Creek ; and thence to point of commencement.
Sub-Districts Nos.8 to 13 overlap the other Sub-Districts, but they are collected by Chinese.
Sub-District No.14.—Remainder of district—(uninhabited).
No. 3.—COOK DISTRICT.
Commencing at Cape Grafton, and bounded thence by a line bearing south-west to Great Dividing Range, and by that range northerly to latitude twelve degrees south ; then by a line bearing east to Cape Grenville ; and thence by the sea-coast southerly to the point of commencement,—including all islands adjacent thereto.
Sub-District No.1.—Commencing at Cape Grafton, then westerly by the boundary line between Cardwell and Cook Police District to the Great Dividing Range ; then northerly to Zigzag line ; thence easterly by Zigzag line to coast at Cape Tribulation ; thence southerly to point of commencement.
